Jesse Weser
Is the a Senior Instructor of Design at Winthrop University. She has most recently worked at the agency, Moonlight, in Charlotte, North Carolina and has since become one of our full time professors with the Department of Design here at Winthrop University. Jesse field of expertise would fall into product design, package design, as well as branding and corporate identity. I want Jesse on my committee because I feel that she could help me understand and set realistic goals as well as give me constructive advise when it comes to developing my illustrations and page layouts. One thing I hope to learn from Jesse is a better sense on time management as well as page layout.
Karen Derksen
Is an Adjunct Professor of Design at Winthrop as well as the director of Winthrop's Galleries. She has an M.A. in arts administration and a B.A. in art history. I believe Karens area of expertise lays in curating art as well as the history of design and illustration. I want her on my team because I think she could help guide me in laying out my book in an organized or "curated" fashion that makes sense to a reader. I also trust her opinion on my designs and illustrations after being in her Graphic Design History class. I believe she could also help me broach the subject of publishing my book and what that would entail. One thing I hope to learn from Karen is how to form a series of illustration and designs that work together and can coexist in the same space without being the same thing.
Owen Davey
@owendaveydraws
Is a Freelance Illustrator who most recently did work for Facebook, TwoDots Postcards, Cyrus, and Snackapade's Smashmallows (yes, this is how you spell these words). Owen specializes in flat art or vector art illustration and has an amazing understanding of color and space. I want him as one of my advisors because although I have worked on several illustrations in the flat art style I would like to expand and explore on that knowledge. I also think he would give be great advice on spacial development, color, and my lines and forms. From Owen I hope to learn I hope to learn more about vector art, why it works, what makes it work, and what in general makes it a success.
Adrian Bauer
@adrianbauer_
Is currently a full time creative director and illustrator who also works for several agencies, companies and other clients. He also has been a professor at the German University of the Arts. His expertise, like Owen, is in flat art illustration. However, Mr. Bauer also has formable page layout and design skills on top of his illustration talent. I would like Mr. Bauer on my committee to help me with understanding my illustrations forms as well as their compositions. I also believe he could give me advise on the layout of my book. One thing I hope to learn from Mr. Bauer is how to incorporate stroke and texture into my illustrations.
